Paragon Theatres Extends Sanibel’s Run After Sold-Out Screenings

January 14 2025 — We’re humbled to share that Sanibel’s theatrical run at Paragon Theatres in Naples has been extended, with showtimes increasing from one to five screenings per day. The overwhelming response during the opening week—when many shows sold out—has been both inspiring and deeply moving. People are traveling from across Florida, including Orlando and Miami, to watch a story that honors the shelling culture of Sanibel Island and the community’s resilience in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.

We can’t thank the community enough for this outpouring of support. Seeing everyone come together—shell collectors, long-time residents, new fans of documentary film—reinforces why we made Sanibel in the first place. Your enthusiasm and feedback remind us just how powerful it is to share stories that highlight both the quirkiness and the resilience of our coastal communities.

We recognize that for many residents, revisiting these memories is not easy. Hurricane Ian left a lasting mark on the island, and it takes courage to come together and watch a film that reflects those difficult times. We’re grateful that so many are choosing to reconnect with one another and with the history that shaped them, all while helping us share Sanibel’s story of unity, hope, and determination.

Our thanks also go out to WINK TV, NBC2, and FOX4 for their coverage, which has helped spread the word and bring in viewers from near and far. Their support has made it possible for more people to witness how an island’s spirit can triumph over adversity.

If you’d like to learn even more about Sanibel, join us on Thursday, January 16 for a special Q&A session with director Jamie Winterstern and several participants from the film, immediately following that day’s screening. Additional sessions will be announced soon, so please check Paragon Theatres’ listings and right here on SanibelMovie.com for details.

Thank you for walking alongside us and the Sanibel community through this journey. Your presence and understanding continue to make all the difference.
